PIMA 2024 exclusive: fine miniature birdcage, symbolising the release of the soul from obligations and outdated dogmas.
This cage is an exact replica of a rare historic cage that was produced at the Genykage factory in Mitcham from 1920-1930. I chose this cage because of the complex acorn shape, difficult to make in both real scale and miniature. The cage tray slides out and the door opens and closes. The feeders are replicated in patterns typical of this period and covered with enamel. The stand was also manufactured at the Genykage factory. The scale is strictly based on the original dimensions. I chose forget-me-nots for the cage decoration, it suits the general metaphorical idea of the composition.
